Temple, TX-The Temple Economic Development Corporation (TEDC) has unveiled the collective name of an existing park and its new business and industrial parks, now known as the Parks at Central Pointe. The grouping consists of Airport Park at Central Pointe, Bioscience Park at Central Pointe, Enterprise Park at Central Pointe (existing), and Rail Park at Central Pointe.

"We are preparing for continued growth by investing in new infrastructure for our Central Pointe Parks," Lee Peterson, President of the TEDC, said. "The Temple Reinvestment Zone and the City of Temple are investing a total of $22 million in new infrastructure in 2008 and 2009 to serve the Bioscience, Airport and Rail Parks at Central Pointe. While not a part of the collective group due to its location, Southeast Industrial Park will also reap the benefits of monies spent for this push for infrastructure."

Each of the four parks in Central Pointe has unique characteristics:

  • Airport Park at Central Pointe - a unique business development area that is zoned to serve as a corporate office campus, back office, and aviation business park

  • Bioscience Park at Central Pointe - a 300-acre business park with newly constructed nature paths located adjacent to the Scott and White West Campus-currently, there are more than 12,000 people employed in the healthcare industry in Temple, Texas

  • Enterprise Park at Central Pointe - a covenant-protected light industrial park that is currently home to MailMax Direct, Atmos Energy and Mayflower Moving and Storage

  • Rail Park at Central Pointe - a logistics-, manufacturing- and warehouse-focused industrial park. Properties in this industrial development area, such as Integrico Composites, LLP, have access to high quality roadways and Burlington Northern Santa Fe rail lines. This park will also be home to the recently announced Gulf States Toyota Vehicle Processing Center (VPC), which is expected to be operational by 2011

"It was a natural progression to join all of the parks under the heading of ‘Central Pointe'," Peterson said. "It just makes sense to unite under a common name an area of town that will be of geographic and developmental interest to site selectors and businesses interested in locating to Temple."

At present, Airport Park at Central Pointe, Enterprise Park at Central Pointe and Rail Park at Central Pointe are shovel-ready for interested site selectors. All are equipped with roadways, electricity, water and sewer. Bioscience Park at Central Pointe will be ready in mid-2009.

Temple provides a competitive advantage in the areas of location, transportation, park infrastructure and available labor. Strategically located along the North American Trade Corridor, the city has immediate access to IH-35. Temple offers a solid transportation infrastructure, including two major Class A rail lines (Burlington Northern & Santa Fe and Union Pacific), an airport and upgraded roadways. Plus, Temple can provide incoming businesses with a skilled and ready-to-work labor force.
